Do you value privacy or think its BS?
On a discussion forum I posted how Govt wants to read all blackberry emails.
Many people had this view, that "If you done nothing wrong, why be scared".
They also believe that by reading all emails and listening to all telephone conversations, govt is protecting us from terrorists.
do YOU also share this viewpoint?
Can evesdropping and spying on citizens prevent terrorist attacks.
If you think "yes" could you give me some examples, some stories etc.,
If you think "no", could you point me to some strong arguments to counter against this train of through "After all its the authorities".
A real story in a mainstream media, or a concrete factual example is great, as opposed to opinion pieces.

A question for the web developer geeks
I took looked through my friends list and it seems there are a lot of people who can answer my query.
BTW this is for a linux system, so a script written in perl/shell etc., will be great
Look at this webpage
http://nse-india.com/content/equities/eq_scriphistdata.htm
In this webpage, you enter the stock name, series, start data and end date, and this produces a csv file for you at this path
The file name is date dependent, for example in this case if was 1-1-2007 to 2-2-2008

http://nse-india.com/content/equities/scripvol/datafiles/112007222008SUZLONEQN.csv

Is there a way to do this on the linux command line? Via some script or something?

Lalu Prasad Yadav
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would write a post about Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav. The railway minister of India.
From as long as I can remember Lalu used to be the posterboy for "What is wrong with Indian politics".
All magazines, from tabloids to the intellectuals, slammed him, his netagiri and everything.
But for all the brickbats he got, he's done something which nobody before him could do.
He made the Indian railways profitable.
Sure there are lots of problems. Trains are late, there is filth on stations and you have to book in advance, but with money coming in all that should go away.
Till Lalu took the mantle, the worlds largest employer was like a black hole, sucking in money. with Lalu, it has cash surplus of 25000 crores.
I wonder how he did it. What he did for such a turnaround.
No wonder then, even IIMs want him to give management lessons.

That said I often wonder, why do we have a front page article when a darling neta kisses a dog, but not a whimper when somebody pulls of such a rare feat.

Gentoo again
Finally I installed gentoo inside vmware.
I could have used a prebuilt VM but decided to build my own.
Install went well, but grub got the blues, would not find the kernel image.
Used LILO instead.
I am able to boot into gentoo and get kdm up and run qtstalker.
now I have another 4GB ISO with me, the opensuse linux dvd ISO.
I think I will create another virtual machine and run opensuse.

I am more gentoo inclined, but I have a simple laptop, and compiling things inside vmware is a big PITA.

So this is what I plan.
Destroy my gentoo VM and replace it with the opensuse. So in the vmware universe I will use opensuse.

But then I have a 80GB HDD which I will put on USB, and install gentoo there.
So when I want experience linux, I use gentoo full time.
but for temporary stuff, I just use the opensuse vm.

Strangers... A short review
Summary:
Amazing movie. One of the best I have seen
The gory details:
Wow what a movie. Does not feel like bollywood at all. Looks like the non mainstream cinema(read no item number and no silly slapstick humor) is coming of age.
What Dus Kahaniya failed to deliver, this film does.
this film shines inspite of lousy actors(except Kay Kay)
Go watch it.

Eu Tu Moderator?
Why is that when you are a moderator, even a slightly off-topic post by you is deemed as an excuse by members to break all rules of a forum!?
Are moderators not members?
Moreover people think its some kind of privilege. Little do they realize that cleaning up 200+ posts a week, keeping out the spambots, and all the voluntarily is no privilege, its a curse!
